The Basic Skills program is designed by U.S. Figure Skating to be the best beginning ice skating program
that is fun, challenging and rewarding!
The curriculum is designed to keep skaters enthusiastic about learning from the time they begin lessons
until the time they reach their goals.
The objective of the program are:
- To provide a fun and safe skating experience for the beginner as well as the more advanced skater
- To teach correct technique of the basic elements of skating
- To develop a finer degree of coordination and balance
- To promote physical fitness
- To have FUN!
Basic Skill and Freeskate Levels
- Basic 1 (requires no membership in KMFSC)
- Basic 2 (requires no membership in KMFSC)
- Basic 3 (Basic 3-8 requires a Basic Skills membership)
- Basic 4
- Basic 5
- Basic 6
- Basic 7
- Basic 8
- Freeskate 1 (Freeskate 1-6 requires a Freeskate membership)
- Freeskate 2
- Freeskate 3
- Freeskate 4
- Freeskate 5
- Freeskate 6
At the Freeskate 6 level skaters begin learning an axel; Begin preparations to start taking proficiency
tests as listed under the full membership benefits!
