Badger State Game Information
Badger State Games Information can be downloaded below:
They include ... * Information on
the games and a competition checklist, * Directions from West Bend to the hotel, to the rink and from the hotel to the
rinks, * Rink information and diagrams, and combined with the information that follows should well prepare you for
the games in Wausau!
These have been created to help you as you attend
your first BSG and to assist you as you try to familiarize yourself with the area and the competition's protocol. As
always - as you are out there representing KMFSC - please put your best foot forward...
Competition Costs
Hopefully your coach
has explained all of the costs involved in traveling to a competition but just in case... here is what you should expect...
Entry Fees (paid in advance) Music Cutting/Choreography/Lessons (paid in advance) Skating Apparel (Anything
is fine! Just make sure it's age appropriate, fits comfortably and appropriately, and can be skated in safely.) An expensive dress never influences the judges opinion of how someone
skated and what placement they deserve.
Hotel Room Charges (usually need a credit card) Meals Travel
Expenses (gas, etc.) Miscellaneous Spending (Optional)... BSG Apparel and Pins, Skating Apparel (dresses, tights,
accessories), Flowers, Videotography, Pictures, Concession Stand, area shopping,
Coaches Fees... Usually
they charge you for milage, hotel expenses, meals, gate fee (when they put your child on the ice to compete), practice fees
(if you ask them to be at your child's practice ice). If they haven't mentioned it to you ...NOW is the time
to ask. Many will want this paid, in advance of leaving, and some will want it in cash.
BSG Volunteers and Organizers
Many of the volunteers are non-skaters and simply members of the Wausau
community - please be courteous, patient and be well prepared. They may not have all of the answers you need.
See the BSG Information Packet for
a detailed checklist and information! Rely on your fellow KMFSC parents and coaches to help you!
The Madison.Middleton area will
be crowded!
Please be considerate of others, exercising patience
and tolerance. Know
where you are going and allow yourselves extra time so you are not rushed and stressed out!
Please mind the "Golden Rule"
"If you can't say something nice - then don't say anything at all." You may not like
another skater. You may not like someone's dress. You may not like their music. You
may think someone's performance wasn't very good. You may not agree with the judging and/or placement.
Keep it to yourself. The person next to you may be their parent, their coach, a judge,
etc. Make a good impression and set a good example for your children to follow. They do follow your lead.
Just remember...Good Sportsmanship... It's about doing your
best and being your best! Winning has nothing to do with it!
Hotel Etiquette
Please be
quiet and keep your children well supervised at all times.
There are other competitors - both skaters and other sport participants. Others
may have to get up in the wee hours of the morning for practices, etc. Children running the hallways and/or bouncing
around in the rooms can become a huge source of irritation and guest complaints.
Middleton will be swarming with BSG participants
Whatever you are attempting to do...eat, get gas, run to
a store, get to a rink for practice early am/late pm, etc. allow extra time! You will encounter heavy traffic early in
the mornings and afternoons on Thurs and Fri. People are still going to work, driving children to school, activities,
etc. And, yes of course, wear your KMFSC Clubwear AND medals! The competitors are the talk of the town and business
owners/patrons enjoy seeing the competitors and their awards Again, be polite and patient ... and thank those that
compliment your skaters!
Good Luck at the Games! We hope you
enjoy them!
